Sunday's christening of Evie, daughter of Si n Shel; part of my extended family. Family because they so generously allow me to be part of their family. How did it come about? To cut a very long story short...we must head back in time to school days...
'N' and I were in the same form, shared similar wicked sense of humour, learnt early on that the best way to survive was to bend rules not break them.
Over the intervening years...we've become to each the sister we never had...hence the link to the wonderful family she married into.
Highlights...
- being godmother to S, N's daughter
- Sharing joint birthday celebrations
- Seeing in New Years
- picking up where we left off, no matter when we meet up or after however long...
- partners who have also become firm friends
- attending family events
- long weekends in Dublin

That's a lot to be thankful for - I have adopted, extended family as well. They are a wonderful part of my life.
It's so great to have extended family like this, quite often they make better family members don't you think ;)

I have to note that NOT ONE THING on y our list is a possesion. Reminds me of those commercials which has the very last item as "priceless"
Yes -- everything you mentioned is absolutely pricless.
Thank goodness for adopted families, right? They're almost better than the real ones in my opinion. I have a college friend that I've known for about 40 years also. We pick right up even when we haven't seen each other in a long time. True test of friendship.
BTW, I love Dublin too, especially that street with all the music shops. First time I heard of Elvis Costello.

Over the years I have 'lost' my relations to tempus fugit. Reult of being an 'only one' of aged parents.
So, my adopted family is my family if you get my meaning.
