Jill hosts Fun Monday

Homemade gifts: given, received, how did they turn out? Failure or roaring success?Jill of 'Life is not Bubble Wrapped' is our hostess for December...

I have some friends who make their own Greetings cards for Christmas and other special occasions, but I'm neither patient nor skillful enough to do it. Also, it seems time-consuming and I have enough to do without adding anything else. I experimented (briefly) with CAD cards years ago and gave it up. Where cards are concerned and especially at Christmas I prefer to buy cards from Charity shops. This morning I purchased them from Barnardo's and Scope.

The former is a children's charity I came across at work. One of the fundraisers I met impressed me with his drive and determination. Even hard-nosed city kids latched on to his message and raised money for the charity that Christmas.
"Barnardo’s vision today is that the lives of all children and young people should be free from poverty, abuse and discrimination."

The latter is a completely different charity.
"Our vision is a world where disabled people have the same opportunities to fulfill their life ambitions as non-disabled people.

Wracking my 'memory' banks, I now remember that I still have and use a hand-made present from school days. Someone knitted me a pair of Aran mitts and I wear them still.

I love cards from charities... they're beautiful AND they contribute. My grandmother used to get them all the time.

What a wonderful idea to use charity Christmas cards. I'm sure there are places in the US that I could purchase some. I will have to keep that in mind for next year. I already bought some for this year.

There's a guide dog charity whose cards I LOVE but are pricey enough for me not to buy them, even if they are for a good cause! Thanks for playing along.

As I bought them this week the cards were reduced in price. If, you can leave it a bit later as we did for Christmas decorations you can save quite a lot.
Thank you all for dropping by...

I wish I knew enough to create lovely cards on my computer. Failing that I, like you, buy cards with a charitable mission. UNICEF is always a winner. Also enjoy getting OXFAM cards from English friends.

Faye if you'd like to find out about making cards on computer there are lots of sites to choose from. I even found one with a selection of greetings to use. Thanks for stopping by.
