The Stand is one of my favorite books, oddly enough. The mini-series was okay but left out some of the stuff that made it a great book. Conversely, if you've seen the movie "Bridget Jones' Diary" I wouldn't bother with the book. The movie was actually better.
Some of your missed books are worth reading, some are actually books for kids (Holes), and others I haven't read myself so I couldn't say...
Thanks for stopping by...
Gosh! Your reading list is quite impressive, Joan. I've read many of the ones you haven't, including much loved Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks. Sometimes I wonder how I managed to earn a graduate degree in literature without reading some of these classics, but I did. I have a habit of re-reading books I love and reading everything by one particular author. Oh well, the point is that we're reading and loving our books.
Thank you, Faye. I have Grammar School to thank for 'having' to read Dickens, Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters. I studied English Literature in sixth form.
Like you I have a love of and appetite for reading (for which I'm thankful).
Also like you I have faves, books that I return to over and over again. Bookshelves are double-racked with books...
